CONCERT GIVEN IN AID OF CANCER FUNDS.

A meeting of the members of the Professional Musicians’ Orchestra was held last evening, Mr C. A. Rendle presiding. It was decided that the orchestra would give a performance on April 15 in aid of the funds of the Cancer Campaign. The concert will be given in the Radiant Hall, which has been offered free of charge by Mr Edmonds. It was also decided to look into the question of providing concerts for the benefit of school children on Saturday afternoons. Dr P. C. Fenwick attended the meeting to thank the orchestra the way

in which it proposed to help in the fight against cancer. The Cancer Committee was having a bad time, he said, as it did not seem to be able to get hold of the people of Christchurch, who required a lot to stir them. However, the action of the musicians was, he thought, one of the most sporting things done, ami would put the committee in good heart.
