A scheme for re-financing the mortgages on English Park was put before the Management Committee of the Canterbury Football Association last evening in a letter from Messrs Spratt and Co., land and estate agents. The suggestion was that £4OOO be raised on the park, to be repaid, principal and interest, over a period of twenty-five years. The chairman said that the annual payments would be about £4OO and, as far as he could see, with the present takings, they would be £2OO a year behind. The question would have to be faced, however, as the present mortgage would fall due next year. It was certainly the finest scheme he had seen to allow English Park to be handed over in twenty-five years free of debt. The letter was referred to the Finance Committee.
