VALUE OF BUILDING PERMITS INCREASES.

PAST YEAR S RETURNS SHOW MUCH PROGRESS. An increase of £62,868 in the value of building permits issued during the City Council’s financial year ended March 31 is shown as compared with the figures for the previous year. In the central inner area an increase in value of £41,748 is shown. The value of permits issued for the outer central area increased by £25,032. Decreases are shown in the Sydenham. Spreydon and Woolston areas. Linwood and St Albans show an increase. The figures for the month of March are outstanding for the fact that the central inner area shows a decrease of £13,858 as compared with March last year. The central outer area shows an . increase of £13,695. S3 r denham, Spreydon and Woolston have increased the value of their permits, while St Albans and Linwood show a decrease, the month closing with a decrease over the whole area of £1667 as compared with March last year.
