ST ALBANS BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION MEETS.

The St Albans Burgesses’ Association met last evening, Mr F. J. Prouting presiding. Replying to a letter from the association, the Town Clerk, Mr J. S. Neville, wrote stating that the matter of widening Edgeware Road between Caledonian and Springfield Roads, Barbadoes Street to Fitzgerald Street, and also of obtaining sufficient land to round off the corners of Trafalgar Street at Edgeware Road, would be considered when the estimates for the ensuing year were being framed. The Town Clerk also stated that the association’s suggestion that a sum of money be placed on next year’s estimates for the purpose of tar-sealing and renewing the channelling in Trafalgar Street had been noted for consideration. In connection with the gardens competition, the chairman stated that three persons had been judged equal first, and it was now a question of finding prizes for all three. A member stated that the Horticultural Society had consented to find two prizes. It was decided to pay out the amount of one prize only. It was reported that the damaged facilities at the children’s playground had been repaired. The matter of arranging with the Minister of Health, the Hon A. J Stall worthy to meet a deputation was left in the hands of Mr R. B. Dailey. Mr G. T. Pfillsdon reported that the side channel in Berry Street was in a bad state, owing to long grass causing blockages. It was decided that the attention of the City Council be drawn to the matter.
