Sullivan, M.P . moved that Councillor Annie I. Fraer be appointed to the vacancy. He said that Councillor Fraer was greatly' interested in the work df the Domains Board and that she would find a good deal of scope for her activities on behalf of the women and children of the citv. Councillor F. R. Cooke seconded the motion. Councillor A. \Y. Beaven said he thought it highly' desirable that persons appointed to the Domains Board should have special knowledge. He considered that the Tramway Board. Domains Board and other local bodies would be much better managed if composed of persons not connected with the City' Council at all. As an amendment he moved that Mr 11. L. Darton be appointed. Councillor M. E. Lyons seconded the amendment. Councillor Sullivan said he was sorry that Councillor Beaven had moved an amendment. lie had hoped that it would have been possible to send Councillor Fraer to the Domains Board with the unanimous backing of the council as a compliment to the women of the citv.
