FORMER WELL-KNOWN BOXER FALLS TO DEATH.
GARTLEY MADDEN DIES FOLLOWING INJURIES. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, March 5. Gartley Madden, a former well-known heavy-weight, whose only knock-out came at the hands of Gene Tunney, fell from the Treasury Buildings, while sight-seeing. He was seriously injured, and died later. Madden was penniless, and was en route to New York to meet his motherless son, after being unable to arrange fights in the south.
