MOTOR-CAR SALESMAN WAS IN A HURRY.
“ The prosecution regards this as a serious case,” said the City Solicitor (Mr R. J. Loughnan) in the Magistrate's Court this morning, when Noel L. Vale, motor-car salesman, was charged with driving his car at a dangerous speed and with failing to give way to the right. Vale pleaded guilty. Mr Mosley was on the Bench. Mr Loughnan said that Vale drove his car along Worcester Street at a speed estimated to be between thirty and thirty-five miles an hour. At the corner of Montreal Street defendant failed to give way to another car. Fortunately the other car gave way. Defendant told the Court that" he was late and in a hurry.
“ Either you will have to pay a substantial fine or else pay a small fine and lose your license,” said Mr Mosley. X don’t want to lose my license,” said the defendant.
On the charge of driving at a dangerous speed, the defendant was fined £5 and costs. On the other charge, he was convicted and ordered to pay costs.
