Though the crops of apples and pears in Canterbur}- were ruined by the severe frosts in the' spring, the local market is not bare of supplies. Large consignments are coming forward from Nelson and Hawke’s Bay to take the place of the usual supplies from Canterbury, and prices are stated to be moderate. Gravensteins are bringing from 7s 6d to 10s a case wholesale, for best quality, and cooking apples from 5s to 7s 6d a case.
