The vessel is expected to return to Lyttelton on Thursday to load for Bluff, Dunedin and Timaru. Opawa, from Blenheim, arrived late last night. The vessel, on completing loading, leaves this evening for Blenheim. She will also carry cargo for Seddon and Ward. Gale will load at Lyttelton on Wednesday for Wellington, Picton and Wanganui The vessel will also carry cargo for Blenheim, Seddon and Ward. Foxton was an early arrival at Lyttelton from Foxton This, morning. The vessel is expected to leave for Foxton this evening, and should return, here on Saturday next. John is loading at Lyttelton to-dav for Wellington, Wanganui, New Plymouth and Waikato. The vessel leaves for the north to-night. Breeze will load at Lyttelton on Saturday for Wellington and Wanganui. Waipahi loads at Lyttelton on Thursday for Napier and Gisborne. Kaitoke returned to Lyttelton yester-

day from southern ports to load for Auckland. The vessel will leave Lyttelton for the north to-morrow.

Totara should complete her loading at Lyttelton to-day and is scheduled to leave for New Plymouth this afternoon. Kahika loads at Lyttelton on Wednesday for Nelson and New Plymouth. Katoa, which arrived at Lyttelton vesterday from Auckland, via Wellington, is scheduled to leave for Timaru, Oamaru and Dunedin this evening.

Kairanga arrived at Wellington yesterday from Auckland. The vessel is due here to-morrow, and after completing her unloading of general cargo proceeds on Wednesday to Westport. Regulus, on completing her unloading of cement at Lyttelton to-day, loads for Nelson, Westport and Grey mouth. She is timed to sail for the north this evening. , Kuku was unable to complete her loading on Saturday. She will leave for Wellington to-day. Cygnet will be recommissioned at Lyttelton on Thursday. THE TEES. The Chatham Islands steamer Tees arrived back from the Chatham Islands early this morning with a load of sheep. The vessel, after loading general cargo, proceeds back to the Chathams, Jtoving this evening. FRANCES MASSEY. The tramp steamer Frances Massey, with asphalt from Tampico (Mexico), arrived at Lyttelton yesterday, via Auckland and Wellington. The vessel is expected to leave Lyttelton to-mor-row for New Plymouth. PERSONAL. Mr M. M. M’Arthur has relieved Mr F. Allan, as second mate on the Breeze. NORTH CAPE LIGHT. The North Capa light, which was out of order, has been adjusted and is now working well. BRITISH GLORY. A radio message from the tanker, British Glory, en route from Los Angeles, states that she expects to arrive at Wellington to-day. OTOKIA REPORTS. This Otokia, en route from LoS Angeles, reports by wireless that she expects to arrive at Wellington on the morning of February 10. RANGITATA’S SAILING TIME. The Rangitata, which is due at Wellington on Wednesday from Napier to complete loading, is timed to leave Wellington at 4 o’clock next Saturday afternoon for Southampton and London, via Panama. NOFOLK LEAVES PANAMA. The Norfolk, which left Napier on January 9, arrived at Panama on Thursday and sailed from Colon the same day for London, where she is due on February 16. CONSTANTINE STEAMER WITHDRAWN. It is understood that the Constantine Line’s cargo stteamer Brookwood, which was to have left Los Angeles on February 28, with Pacific Coast cargo for Auckland,. Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin, has been withdrawn, and will now proceed to the United Kingdom with wheat. The withdrawal of the Brookwood, which was to inaugurate the Constantine Line's new service to New Zealand, is said to be due to the absence of cargo. NEW COASTAL SHIP. The new motor vessel, Port Waikato, is expected at Melbourne at any time now, fen route from England to New Zealand, where she is to be engaged in the costal trade. The vessel was constructed at Leith, Scotland, by Henry Robb, Ltd., for Messrs A. F. Wachlift and Co., Auckland. During the vessel’s official trials she attained a speed of Hi knots. Built to Lloyd’s Register’s highest class under special survey, thfe Port Waikato is of the raised quarterdeck type vessel, with bridge amidships and long top-gallant forecastle. Hfer length between perpendiculars is 180 ft, moulded breadth 2S£t, and moulded depth from the main deck 1-3 ft 3in. The deadweight carrying capacity is of 880 tons. The hatchways are very large, and the holds free from obstructions, and the deck machinery includes two powerful self-slewing steam winches, a, steam windlass, and a steam warping capstan, the steam being supplied by thte marine return-tube boiler. The propelling machinery of two-stroke singleacting Diesel engines, having four cylinders, 16in bore by 20in stroke, rated 560 b.h.p. when running at 250 revolutions. The engines are of the independent scavenging type, and have oilcooled pistons. The engine-room auxiliaries include a dynamo, driven by a btelt from the main engine intermediate shaft, which supplies continuous ship lighting, a 750-watt petrol-driven, light-generating plant for use in port, and a small petrol-driven air-compressor to supply initial compressed air to the air-storage tanks, of which there are four, 30in in diameter by Bft long, and one 20in in diameter by sft long. A 20 k.w. generating plant, driven direct by a 25 h.p. Diesel engine, is also installed, chiefly to supply power to the following independent motor-driven auxiliaries: An auxiliary two-stage air compressor, a 6in centrifugal ballast pump of 110 tons per hour capacity, a duplfex general service and fire pump suitable for 2001 b pressure, a 4in centrifugal auxiliary lubricating oil pump, and an oil purifier, oil heater and transfer pump. The Port Waikato is taking to Melbourne a cargo of Baltic timber from Oslo. ISLAND SERVICES. Tofua left Auckland on January 25 for Suva. Due Suva on Friday; thence Nukualofa, Haapai, Vavau and Apia.
