BOYS FACE IS BADLY BURNED BY GUNPOWDER.
At the Christchurch regatta at Kairaki on Saturday, Russell Dixon, son of Mr G. Dixon, Hilton Street, Kaiapoi, was badly burnt in the face by an explosion of gunpowder. It appears that a cartridge was picked up by young Dixon and other boys, who proceeded to extract the powder. It is stated that Dixon was holding the cartridge case when a boy threw a lighted match, Dixon receiving the full force of the .xr-osion in the face. He was promptly removed to Kaiapoi, and received medical attention. It was thought that his sight would be injured, but he is reported to be progressing favourably.
