AVALON TO DEFEND SANDERS CUP FOR AUCKLAND PROVINCE.

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, December 10. Avalon was selected by the Auckland Yacht and Alotor-boat Association tonight to defend the Sanders Aremorial Cup in the contest on the Waitemata next month. The first race for the cup will be held on January 28, thus enabling Southland, Otago and Canterbury representatives to take part in the Wellington regatta on the way north. Challenges for the Cornwell Cup have been received from Otago ; Lyttelton. Canterbury, Wellington, Napier and Manawatu. Auckland holds the cup and will defend it. The contest will be held at Dunedin, the first race taking place on February 18
