DEDICATION SERVICE.
At the Methodist Deaconess House, Latimer Square, yesterday afternoon, a service was held for the dedication of two deaconesses. Sister Lenna and Miss Parkinson. After the opening hymn, the Rev A. N. Scotter led the gathering in prayer, and the Rev W. J- Williams read the lesson. Mr Scotter then explained the purpose of the meeting and read apologies for absence, and messages of greeting. After another hymn, Mrs W. J. Williams, who is in charge of Deaconess House, exPJ ai ned what constituted the training of deaconesses—their lectures in theology, elocution, literature, church his* tory, and psychology, their practical work in adult and baby nursing, and their work with Nurse Maude. They did a great deal of work among poor families, especially with women who otherwise would get no religious training. In regard to pulpit work they were still feeling their way but during the last year they had supplied over 100 pulpit services. Baumber the prayer At the close of the service afternoon tea was served.
