Per Press Association. MARTON, December 11. Great concern has been caused in the Silverhope district near Hun|terville by the action of a desperate criminal or maniac. The farm house of Mr D. Meads was visited at an early hour yesterday morning by a masked man who, however, was frightened away. Later in the morning, when Mr Meads

was out on the farm, the man returned and frightened Mrs Meads, who screamed to her husband. The man stole a gun and disappeared suddenly. . -A search proved fruitless, but again evening the man returned while Mr Meads was in the cowshed. He bound and gaged Mrs Meads and ransacked the house. . The police have organised search parties.
