" “The evidence satisfies me that in I the interests of men engaged in work - _ inf? cargo safety hooks should be used,’’ [ was the rider attached to the verdict , given by the Coroner (Mr Barton) at . an inquest to-day on a waterside . worker. James David Kirkwood. While [ engaged at the steamer Rangitiki on , Tuesday evening he was struck by an [ empty tray which fell from a- book on to the wharf and he died later- in hospital. The Coroner’s verdict was that Kirk- , wood was killed whilst engaged in load- ’ ing operations on the overseas liner Rangitiki by being struck on the head ‘ by a falling csn-go tray, which was part of the loading equipment.
