INQUIRY INTO THE EDUCATION SYSTEM OF THE DOMINION.
The Parliamentary Education Committee appointed to inquire into ail phases of education in the Dominion, commenced its Christchurch sittings to-day. Mr W. A 4 Bodkin is the chairman of the committee, and the members who are taking part in the sittings here are the Minister of Education (Hon H Atmore), Messrs J. A. Young, G. R. Sykes, F. Murdoch, Clyde Carr, G. Black and H. Holland, with Mr T. B. Strong, Director of Education. Thia morning members of the committee visited the Christchurch Technical College and were shown over the institution. They were met on their araval by the chairman of the Board of Governors (Mr M’Gregor B. Wright) the Director, Dr D. E. Hansen, members of the board, and Mr J. M’Combs, M.P. Afterwards a visit Was paid to the Girls High School at Avonside, where the school was inspected and a brief address was given by the Minister to the pupils. Later the Minister was present at the break-up ceremony at the teachers Training College.
