WOMEN ADVOCATE BANNING LIQUOR FROM CABARETS.

MINISTER SUGGESTS LOCAL RESTRICTIONS.

(Special to the "Star.”) MILLINGTON, December 6. The Hon T. M. Wilford met this week a deputation from the Women’s Social Progress Movement which asked him, as Minister of Justice, for amended legislation to prevent the consumption of liquor at cabarets and halls used for dancing. Mr Wilford read reports from the four centres, and said he considered that local restrictions which could be made by city councils were likely to be a satisfactory solution of the matter.
