MEMBERS OF CRICKET COUNCIL WILL MEET ENGLISH CRICKETERS.
The president and four members of the management committee of the Cricket Council will visit Wellington on Monday next to meet the M.C.C. team on their arrival from Australia. Various matters affecting the tour will be discussed with the captain of the side, A. H. H. Gilligan. The team arrive in Christchurch on December 23, after meeting Wellington and Nelson, and commence their match against Canterbury the next day. The first test match will be played at Christchurch, commencing on January 10, after which the team goes on to the North Island, having completed their South Island tour. Mr W. H. Winsor stated this morning that prospects just now were that Canterbury would be able to give the visitors a good match. Given fine weather, there was no doubt but that the tour would be a huge success. He said he hoped that by the time the team reached Christchurch the members who had been suffering from minor injuries and ailments would be quite recovered and able to take part in the matches.
