GARDEN PARTY AT BISHOPSCOURT.
A pleasant function is the garden party held at Bisliopscourt, to which .the clergy of the diocese and their wives, and all those who are attending the annual Synod, are invited. Generally it is held during the week, but this year it was held on the opening day, an excellent arrangement, enabling the clergy and the laity and many church people to meet and renew old friendships and acquaintances in beautiful surroundings, and to enjoy the afternoon tea, under the fine old trees Yesterday afternoon the garden* at Bishopscourt were at their best ; and the spacious lawns were thronged with people. The Bishop and Mrs V. estWatson, the latter wearing a graceful gown of navy blue georgette and lace and a becoming hat, received their guests on the terrace. Among those present were:—The Mayor and Mayoress (the Rev J. and Mrs Archer), Commodore Geoff ley Blake, C. 8., D. 5.0., and several officers of H.M.S.
