PARLIAMENT WILL PROBABLY FINISH IN THREE WEEKS.
IMPORTANT MEASURES TO BE DEALT WITH (Special *o the Star.) WELLINGTON, October 13. There are good prospects of the session ending this month, as the Prime Minister will be in his place on Monday night, and the taxing legislation the most important remaining item, can proceed. The only contentious section of the Estimates to be dealt with is that of the Railway Department, and members expect to clear off all the remaining classes of votes during the coming week. The Wheat Committee is likely to take its last witness on Tuesday, and the Transport Law Bill, which has been the subject of a large amount of evidence, is in a forward state in committee, with every prospect of the Bill being reported to the House by Thursday. As the legislative programme is extremely light, members need not be unduly hurried if they carry out the whole programme within the next three weeks.
