POUND DAY AT ST ANNE’S HOME.

Pound Day was instituted as a means of replenishing the store-rooms and larder of St Anne's Home for girls, and yesterday was the eighth anniversary. Unfortunately being a rainy day, there were not so many visitors as usual, bringing with them gifts and taking away a store of delicious marmalade and sweets made by the girls, or some pretty useful piece of needlework, alstf made by their busy fingers. Still, many pounds of stores arrived and many more are expected- Great progress is being made with the laundry w*ork under Mrs Macneill, and the fourteen girls all looked well and happy. Afternoon tea was served in the refectory, where Sister Frances, assisted by Miss Baker, Miss Wright, Miss Jenkyns. Mrs Macneill and members of the staff, at tended to the visitors.

Mrs Stephen Parr. Mrs Moysey and Mrs J. E. Russell gave a selection ol songs, violin and piano solos. The Rev J. P. Coursey was unable to give an address on the aims and objects of St Anne’s Home, owing to illness.
