Forty awards were gained this year by the winners. . ■ , Mr Collins, in presenting the cup, said a pleasing feature of the annual report of the Canterbury Centre of the Life Saving Society was that many of those who in the past had gained awards at the New Brighton School had since presented classes of their own, and' gained teachers’ or honorary instructors’ certificates at other schools. The following awards were then presented:— Elementary Certificate—Noell Angell, Warwick Arrowsmith, Lloyd Barry, Leonard Clements, Douglas Cocks, Sam Besley, Harry Cook, George Hoswell, Lewis Hudson, Mervyn Kinsman, Ken Sorrell, Harry Wilkins, Jessie Franklin, Olive Wyatt, Betty Bennett.
