The annual inter-club match, between Richmond Hill and Ashburton was played at Richmond Hill during the weekend, and resulted in a win for the home team by twenty-one games to six. offering io come to Akaroa to give club members instruction. It was decided that a committee consisting of the captain, vice-captain and Mrs F. C. Newton interview club members to see how many would take lessons, and the secretary was Instructed to write to Mr Prince asking his tei*ms. The committee dealing with the offer of Mr F. G. Armstrong to allow the club to straighten the fence from the sixth to the seventh green reported that the alteration would improve the approach to both holes. It was decided that Mr Armstrong’s offer be accepted with thanks, the work to be carried out at once. ASHBURTON CLUB. The qualifying round in connection with the captain’s trophy was played by members of the Ashburton Golf Club on Saturday afternoon. The following members qualified:—C. O. Pratt, J. T. Smith, D. XI. Playing for the vice-president’s trophies at Diamond Harbour on Saturday afternoon P. Barnard and Miss E. White-Parsons tied with T. Bowring and Miss W. White-Parsons, with a net score of 39. G. Morris defeated H. Banfield in the play-off of a tie for a bogey match at Charteris Bay yesterday. A mixed foursome was played at Charteris Bay yesterday for a trophv presented by Mr 11. Derbidge. The winners were I. Davidson and Miss P Plimmer, with a net score of 77. T. Paterson and Mrs 11. Ayers were the runners-up, with a net score of 78. A team from the Malvern Golf Club visited Diamond Harbour yesterday and played a match against a Diamond Harbour team. Results were as follows, Malvern players being mentioned first: Foursomes—A.
