SCOTCH PLAIDS AND THE CLAN TARTANS.
A changeable climate renders it necessary that the feminine wardrobe should include some wool garments possessing both warmth and lightness. A pleated skirt of tartan cloth with a plain coloured bodice in velveteen or other material, or a plain skirt with a sports jumper, either trimmed or piped with clan colourings, make quite attractive outfits. Inspection of the clan tartan designs will reveal that there are se^e . r al embracing bold colourings in which red predominates, including: Robertson, Macintosh, Roj’al Stewart, M Duff, Fraser; then comes Dress Macpherson with its smart splashes of yellow and red. . , This is an age of brilliant colours, but the quieter and more subdued colourings with the dark green ating will be found in the M Donald, Hunting Stewart, Eracht Cameron, Menzies, M’Kenzie and M’lntyre designs.
