BYRD SENDS THANKS FOR RADIO CONCERTS.
LISTENING-IN TO-NIGHT FOR LATEST SONG HIT. The Radio Broadcasting Company supplies the following copy of a radiogram received from the Byrd Expedition. It' will be acknowledged and replied to by 2YA this evening at 10.15 o’clock. The new song—on a Brunswick record—will also be broadcast. “The members of the Byrd Expedition wintering on the Ro?s Ice Barrier in the Antarctic listen to your programme from nine-thirty-, New Zealand time, until 2YA signs off. The programme is tuned in after taps’ has sounded down here and all the boys are tucked away in their sleeping-bags. ’ It brings to us pleasant memories of a delightful visit to Wellington, and the hospitality of the people of New Zealand that we so much enjoyed. “For the past two months we have heard repeated references over the radio to a new American song hit entitled ‘Button Up Your Overcoat, You Belong to Me.’ If this has found its way to tyew Zealand the boys would like to hear it some night. From the bottom of the world we send cordial good wishes and renew our appreciation of your nightly programmes. “(Signed) Commander Byrd and members of the Expedition.”
