SHOULD WOMEN PLAY WITHOUT STOCKINGS? BATHING COSTUMES ARE FAVOURED BY SPANISH STAR. t United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received May 27, 1120 a.m.) LONDON, May 26. Mr Larcombe, manager of the All England Club, admits that it is most probable that the committee will consider whether women competitors at Wimbledon will be allowed to play stockingless. Miss Helen Wills, who set the fashion in Europe, when interviewed seemed sceptical as to whether the club would venture to issue a rule on such a personal matter, nevertheless she said she would not like to oppose it if it was the official ruling. When questioned, Senorita de Alvarez, the fascinating Spanish player, expressed the opinion that it was out of keeping to wear a frock and no stockings. “If they decided to wear bathing costumes for tennis would be an excellent idea.” —Australian Press Association—United Service.
