STEEL MANUFACTURERS SIGN AGREEMENT; MERGER MOOTED.

(United Press Assn.—-By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received December 19, 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, t December 18. Agreements were signed yesterday providing for the amalgamation of the steel industry, exclusive of those con cerned with gun mountings, armoured cars and tanks, between three great companies, namely Messrs Vickers, Messrs Vickers, Armstrong, and Messrs Cammell, Laird. It is understood that negotiations are proceeding for the new merger company to absorb other important firms in the steel industry. Another agreement between Vickers and Cammell, Laird provides for the amalgamation of all the railway carriage and waggon interests of these two companies.—British Official Wireless.
