PEACE IN INDUSTRY CONFERENCE LIKELY EARLY NEXT YEAR.
(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received December 19, 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, December 18. Practically all organisations of cmploj'ers have made their replies regarding the agreement reached between Lord Melchett’s group of employers and the General Council of the Trades Union Congress to promote peace in industry. Employers who are in touch with the feelings of their colleagues in other industries do not anticipate unqualified acceptance, or rejection of all that is contained in the interim report. It is believed that in the main replies will be found to convey approval of the efforts made to ensure a measure of closer co-operation in industry and the desire for joint consultation with the General Council of the Trades Union Congress. It is stated that the- vast majority of employers have been far too interested to think of anything like unqualified rejection. A preliminary conference of an officially representative character may be held early in the New Year.—British Official Wireless.
