AKAROA PREPARES FOR SANDERS CUP RACES.

A meeting of the Sanders Cup Committee was held on Saturday, Mr G. Armstrong (Mayor) presiding over a very good attendance. The Okain’s Bay Road Board wrote that the application for a donation would be considered at their next meeting. The sub-committee appointed to draw up a programme of events in conjunction with the Sanders Cup race recommended that three outboard motor boat races be held on Saturday, February 16, and that three yacht races and another three outboard events be held on Monday, February IS. It was decided that the Takapuna punt race and the yacht race (Jellicoe class) be sailed over the Sanders Cup course, and the all-corners’ yacht race be the same as the regatta course. Mr Davidson reported that they had allotted the six cups to the outboard motor boats and also about £37 in prize money. Probably other cups would be allotted to the yacht races. Arrangements were made for storing the motor boats, and it was decided to ask the Borough Council to close the Recreation Ground for the purpose of parking cars during the contest, also to arrange for the Sanders Cup and the other cups to be displayed in Akaroa.
