WHARENUI SCHOOL.
BREAK-UP FUNCTION. The Riccarton Town Hall was crowded on Monday evening, when a fancy dress j.-arty was held to mark the close of- the \V ha remit School year. The chairman, Mr D. Swanston, presided, and Mr H. S. S. Kyle. M.P., and Mrs Kyle were present. Two of the prizes were donated by Mr Kyle, and Mrs Kyle judged the costumes. Mr Geoff Alley, one of the All Bla-ks who toured South Africa, delivered an interesting talk. Prizes were awarded for fancy costumes as follows:—Best dressed girl. F\ Dockery, Christmas tree, 1. Irene Hamilton, Rarly Victorian. 2. Best dressed boy. preil Stevens, policeman. Most original gir], K. Massey, Washing Day, and M. James, New Health, (equal). Most original boy, K. Stewart, bowser. Cheapest dressed girl. K. Blake, hard-up, sack dress. Cheapest dressed boy, A. Bribble, flour bags. A programme of items was given as follows:—Valerie Cater, recitations; Standard IV. Group. songs: Standard T.. folk dance; Vic Wise, recitation; Standard 1., song; Betty ('arnochan.
