PUPILS’ EVENING.

About fifty guests assembled at Begg s recital chamber on Saturday evening last, at the invitation of Mr Claude H. Davies, who gave an informal pupils’ evening. Mrs Dickie acted as hostess. Games, competitions and dancing were indulged in. The prize-winners of the competitions were Miss Brown and Miss Bryant. All pupils available performed an item. Hyde, “ Romance ” (Sibelius) ; Master B. Curtis, “The Linden Tree” (Schubert); Messrs Bailey, “ The Merry Peasant ” (Schumann); A. C. Perry, “ Dreaming ” (Schumann): A. L. Perry, “ Valse ” (Chopin); A. Penlington, “Gavotte” (Thomas) ; Miss G. Berg and Master B. Curtis, “The Sleigh Ride” (Ducelle), Misses I. and M. Herriott, “ Invitation to the Dance” (Weber). During the evening Mr Davies outlined a scheme to form a Students’ Club to commence early in the near year with the object of furthering the appreciation of music. Supper was served, and the evening brought to a close with “ Auld Lang Syne.” ______
