Can a trotting club run a meeting without a clerk of scales? According to the board of the New Zealand Trotting Association, whether a clerk of scales is employed is a question for individual clubs. This decision was reached at the meeting of the board on Saturday night, when Mr 11. B. Massey wrote asking the board if the Auckland Trotting Club were not infringing against the rules by dispensing with the 'position oT clerk of scales, in view of there being no saddle events on the club's programme. The board decided to reply that the employment of a clerk of scales was a question for the club only.
