PEEL FOREST SCENE OF SUNDAY EXCURSION.

Only twenty-three people took part in the railway excursion to Peel Forest yesterday, although about 250 went on to Timaru. The party which visited Peel Forest left the train at Jlhngitata and went by motorbus over the fourteen miles to the bush, which is 1600 feet above sea level. After five hours spent there, they left again by motor for Orari. via Geraldine, covering another twenty miles .by road. The native bush excited much admiration from those who took part in the trip, the excellent state of preservation of the area being commented on. Native bird life was also much in evidence, wood pigeons and bell-birds being seen frequently.
