A SUGGESTION.

To the Editor. Dear Sir, —Kindly permit me to express my appreciation to the management of the radio broadcasting station 3YA of the brainy idea of increasing the length of the daily session. This being my dav of leisure, I selected and lighted a “ Three Castles Yellow,” turned on my radio set, and sat back in my easy-chair and prepared to enjoy the opening of the new session. Man, it was great! A wonderful selection of gramophone records, varying from classical to jazz, and splendidly reproduced. And then, “ How do you do, everybody, how do you do?”—the familiar strains of the opening chorus of 3ZC came sweetly through, and my sense of British fair play was sorely offended. And in my meditation I realised that I could not sincerely appreciate the action of 3YA without first congratulating the management of 3ZC for having induced 3YA to give this additional service. Now, sir, why this ridiculous apeing of 3ZC? This station has for some time been giving us a splendid service at this hour, so, please, why the duplication? In the interests of broadcast listeners, I have suggested a daily programme which could be shared by both stations, and which would be a really efficient service to listeners:— 3ZC—9 a.m. to 11 a.m. 3YA—II a.m. to 1 p.m. 3ZC—I p.m. to 3 p.m. 3YA—3 pjn. to 5 p.m. 3ZC—S p.m. to 6 p.m — 3YA—6 pjm. to 10 p.m. * This gives 3YA eight hours daily, with 3ZC on the air five hours daily. The license fees could be proportioned. —1 am, etc. 3YAZC,
