MENACE TO THE PUBLIC.
To the Editor. Dear Sir,—Some of the portrait enlargement firms have taxed the endurance of the public to the limit. They are obtaining orders under false pretences and misrepresentation. Young n.en often force their way into homes to show their samples, and just as an advertisement, offer to do a painting which they say usually costs £4 for 39s 6d. Persons find On delivery of .same that this does not include frame or glass, and a common crayon enlargement, coloured, is delivered in place of the genuine painting. ‘Uso oil exorbitant price is asked for frame and glass. Usually £3 is asked. The glass, they say, is unbreakable. To my knowledge there is no such thing as unbreakable glass. Persons who were victimised in Christchurch last week by t.wo catch firms who sold glass as unbreakable should be able to demand a return of their money. For publishing this you will save manv victims from CATCH FIRMS.
