Mrs Eric Millton left last evening: for "Wellington. Mrs W. Spindler, St Albans, is spending a short holiday in Tirnaru.

Mrs L. Waters. Tirnaru, is staj-ing with her parents in St Albans. Mrs G. D. Greenwood has returned to New Zealand from a tour overseas.

Mrs Cracroft Wilson arrived from the north this morning.

Mrs C. Hastings Bridge has returned to Christchurch from Hawke’s Bay. Miss Pogson and Miss C. Pogson, Christchurch, left last evening en route for a holiday visit to Rotorua.

Mr and Mrs R. Elm arrived in Christchurch this morning and are staying at Warner’s Hotel. Mrs G. Hennessy. South Canterbury, is visiting her mother, Mrs C. S. Bowden, Papanui Road. Mrs Clive Crozier, Christchurch, is visiting her mother, Mrs T. W. Satterthwaite, Tirnaru.

The secretary of the Opawa and St Martins branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society reports that as a result of the annual collection she is able to hand over £26 4s 6.d to the society. Mrs Rutherford, “ Lochiel,” Culverden, and Mrs M. Bethell, “ Pahau Pastures,” have consented to act as judges of the decorated Victorian bowl at the Canterbury Horticultural Society’s rose show in the Art Gallery on Friday next. This is a new competition in Christchurch and promises to be a very attractive section. The prizes have been presented by Mrs H. O. D. Meares. Mrs E. Ridgen, of Greendale, will judge all other exhibits in the decorative classes. Invitations have been issued for* the Christ’s College Old Boys’ annual ball to be held in the Memorial Hall, ( hrists’ College, on Monday, December 17. A special programme of music has been arranged, and tickets are obtainable from the Bristol Piano Company or the following committee members: Dr A. D. Anderson, Dr L. C. L. Averill, Messrs R. J- Hobbs, A. I. Cotterell, L. J. LeCren, D. M. Stewart, J. D. Lawrence and S. P. Godfrey, hon secretary.
