MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A first offender was fined £l, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. UNREGISTERED PLUMBER Arthur Mills, on a charge of doing plumbing work when he was not a registered plumber, was fined £1 ' ind costs, and David Burlass was fined £1 for employing him. BREACH OF AWARD. Georgina M. Jones, on two charges of employing female assistants in her restaurant after 10.30 p.m., was ordered to pay costs on one charge and was fined 10s and costs on the other. MILK CASE. Edward Erickson (Mr Cavell) was convicted and ordered to pay costs on a charge of selling milk containing too much water. KAIAPOI. (Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.) For cycling on the footpath, E. Rivers was fined 5s and costs. For cycling without a light P. Akins and G. Ellmers were each fined 5s and costs. On a similar charge G. Bax, C. J. Huria, A. Jeffrey and A. Joy were each fined 10s and costs. For failing to produce a motor drivers’ license for inspection, B. Diepenheim was fined 10s and costs. S. Woods, for driving a motor-cycle in a manner dangerous to the public, was fined 20s and costs, and for failing to produce a license was convicted and ordered to pay costs. A. C. R. Robinson, charged with driving a motor-car at an excessive speed, was fined £4 and costs, and on a charge of overtaking a motor vehicle proceeding in the same direction, at a street intersection, travelling at a greater speed than six miles an hour, was convicted and discharged. H. Moyna, charged with negligently driving a motor-cycle, was fined £2 and costs. A. M’Donald, D. Morris, C. Robb, S. Stokes and W. Watson, charged with bein?* found on licensed premises of the Royal Hotel, Woodend, after hours, were each fined 20s and costs. I. Little, charged with driving a motor-car without a light, was fined 20s and costs. J. O’Neil, for cycling on the footpath, was fined 15s and costs. 11. R. Te Uki, on a charge of disobedience of a maintenance order, being in arrears £O, w ? as convicted and sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended for fourteen days. T. Flutey, charged with disobedience of a maintenance order, being in arrears £3O, was convicted and sentenced to three months’ imprisonment.
