MAORI WAR VETERANS HOLD CONFERENCE.

Per Press Association. HASTINGS. December 5. A conference of Maori war veterans was held this morning. Major Lomax • Wanganui) presiding over sixteen veterans whose average age was eightythree. The annual report stated that fifty-seven veterans had died during the year, leaving 279 on the list. It was unanimously decided not to join the Empire Veterans’ Association. A vote of thanks was passed to the Government for the grant of railway passes to delegates. Major Lomax was re-elected vice-president. It was decided to hold the next meeting in Wanganui.
