LIQUOR WAS SOLD IN NO-LICENSE AREA.
CONSTABLE’S PURCHASE AT SWEETS SHOP. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 16. Winifred Roberts, a confectioner at Grey Lynn, pleaded guilty to keeping liquor in a no-license area. Her husband pleaded guilty to selling liquor. The woman was fined £5, while the husband was fined 50s. The police stated that it was known that men were getting liquor in the locality. The shop was near a dance hall and a constable twice. attended dances and purchased liquor at the shop. The case, however, was not serious, as defendants had only been “going” three months.
