A POLICY MATTER.
BY
SINBAD.
J. Gordon Coates, the Tories* Pride, will visit Christchurch in a while. He kicks off next Wednesday for his side, and Christchurch thus is honoured highly. Our reputation, all agree, is that of critics most discerning. To hear the Tory policy, with curiosity we’re burning. I know that Gordon won’t object to just a little heckling kindly. We’re not the sort, he will reflect, to swallow any speeches blindly. Can he contrive at question time to bolster up his party sinking? I fear # the answer is a lime, unless he’s smarter than I'm thinking. He might persuade another town with quips irrelevant yet witty, but that, I fear, will not go down with folk in the Cathedral City. And so the interjecting band will get from him some mild enjoyment, by asking him about the land, the railways, and then unemployment. Now I myself am very slow to raise my voice in tone that pesters, but one thing I would like to know—what will he do about nor’-westers ?
