THOUGHT WHAT WAS HIS WIFE’S WAS HIS.

Per Press .Association. WELLINGTON, October 12. Louis M’Donald, a carpenter, was today charged that by means of false and misleading statements he obtained instalments of a war pension totalling £177 13s 4d. Mr O’Regan, for defendant, said that defendant’s wife became entitled to a war pension in respect to her son, and defendant was appointed her agent. After his wife died M’Donald still collected the pension, evidently under the impression that what was his wife’s was his own. That defendant had acted quite bona fide in the matter was proved by the fact that he had recently applied for the old age pension and had stated on the form that he was drawing a war pension. Defendant was convicted and ordered to refund within seven days the amount wrongly drawn.
