ANNUAL CONVENTION. The V.O.T.U. District Convention met for its final session yesterday morning, when Miss Harband led deMiss Henderson gave a resume of the Mental Defectives Bill, which has just been before Parliament. Reports were received from the following unions:—Ashburton, with membership of 144, Christchurch 152, Riccarton 01, Belfast 29, South Brighton 20. Cashmere 22, Greymouth 28, Hokitika 24. Blackball 10, LincolnSpringston 22, New Brighton 108, North Brighton 26, Rangiora 46, Oxford 40, Papanui 45. Rakaia 43. Templeton 20, Spreydon 65, Styx 37, Sydenham 45. The reports showed that good work was in progress covering a wide -field of activities. Particularly outstanding was the work in connection with Bands of Hope, Cradle Roll and young people generally. Votes of thanks were passed to all those who had contributed towards the success of the convention, and to the newspapers. An invitation to hold the next annual district convention in Waimate was unanimously accepted. The convention was brought to a close by singing the Temperance Dox°l°gy- .
