BAVIN GOVERNMENT AMENDING THE ACT. (United Press Assn.-—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received September 27, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, September 27. The Bavin Government is amending the Crimes Act to deter serious crime, which is increasing. The Bill har been introduced to provide floggings for crimes of violence and razor slashers, six months’ gaol for drunken motor drivers, and the abolition of the first offenders provision for women shoplifters.—Australian Press Association
