MAYOR OF DUNEDIN PRESENTS EACH OF FLYERS WITH RUG.
The presentation of a travelling rug to each of the members of the crew of the Southern Cross was made last evening by the Mayor of Dunedin (Mr W. B. Taverner) on behalf of the city of Dunedin. As the weather conditions had prevented the aviators from visiting Dune din, Mr Taverner took the opportunity of making- the presentation while in Christchurch. The function was quite informal. In making the presentation Mr Taverner conveyed the cpngratulations of the people of Dunedin and their good wishes for the success of the return light. Speaking to a reporter later both Squadron-Leacler Kingsford Smith and Flight-Lieutenant Ulm expressed their keen regret that circumstances had nade it impossible for them to carry nit the southern vrey. c.
