NOTIFICATIONS OF SCARLET FEVER.
Fifty-eight cases of scarlet fever were notified in the Canterbury Health District last week, compared with 57 in the previous week. Of the cases notified last week 38 were in the metropolitan area, a decrease of four as compared with the previous week.
There are indications that scarlet fever is now on the wane as far as the metropolitan area is concerned. The majority of the cases notified are of a mild type, and of 213 scarlet fever patients in the Bottle Lake Hospital, only 14 are regarded as severe cases
