OBITUARY

MRS J. DOHERTY. There passed away on Friday last, af the residence of her daughter, an old and highly respected resident of the Lincoln district, in the person of Mrs J. Doherty, aged eighty-one years, widow of the late James Doherty, who predeceased her thirteen years ago. I he late Mr and Mrs Doherty arrived in New Zealand in ,1874 and were, mar-

ried in 1875, living first at Prebbleton for a time and afterwards making their home at Lincoln, where the deceased lady lived until the death of her husband. She afterwards lived with her family. On Sunday a large assemblage gathered at the Church of the Sacred Heart. Shand's Track, to pay their last respects, where the funeral left for the Lincoln cemetery. The deceased lady was attended in her last hours by the Rev Father Gallagher, who celebrated Requiem Mass in the morning and also officiated at the graveside. The pall-bearer were Messrs Jas., Maurice. Leo Ouneen (grandsons), T. O'Rourke, W. Cuneen and Jack Cuneen (relatives), all members of the Hibernian Society, No. 192, of which the late Mr and Mrs Doherty were members. There are left to mourn the loss of a devoted mother. Mrs Jas. Cuneen, Mrs C. J. Ryan and Mr Joseph Doherty, all of Broadfield. Wreaths were sent bv the members of the H.A.C.8.5., No. 192, Miss' Dearslev and Broadfield schoolchildren, the Stewart family, Mr and Mrs W. H. Collings and family, Mr and Mrs F. Cook, Mr P. Basher and family, Mr and Mrs Fred Marsh. Mr and Mrs Geo. Smith and family, Mr, and Mrs F. French and family, Mr and Mrs. E. Guildford. Mrs Stokel and family’ - , Mrs Watts and the Butcher family, and Mrs M. F. Ryan and family.
