SAVAGE CLUB LADIES' NIGHT.

The Savages held their Wahine’s Korero in the Caledonian Hall last night. The stage represented a sylvan scene, and a very interesting and varied programme was given. Savage T. M. Charters sang the opening song, the Savages joining in the chorus. Savage A. M. Smith installed Savage G. W. Hale as their great chief and presented him with their lodge and a massive bone, and called upon his brother Savages to salute their chief. He thereupon gave an address to the Savages, their Wahines and “paying guests,” and invited them all to smoke. He related many humorous anecdotes between the items and kept the large gathering in a happy mood throughout the evening. The Savage Club Orchestra, under the baton of Savage 11. V. Beck, played a melodious Strauss waltz. Savage Bernard Reiinell sang “Arise O Sun.” and Savage Pairman’s solo, “Sons of the Sea,” by Coleridge Taylor, was finely rendered. A duet by Savages Charters and Smith, “Tenor and Baritone,” was sung with much spirit and humour. A violin solo by Savage J. Mercer was very enjoyable, and the sketches Savages Dey and Collins proved most diverting, and Savage Comfort's “Sniffs” will not soon be forgotten. Another good sketch was given by Savages Jones, A. E. Loach and C. Collins, Mr C. E. Jones taking the pari: of Dr J. Groves, V.P.O.S.L. A toast to the ladies was gallantly sung by the great chieftain, with a chorus by the Savages. The words were by Savage W. S. Baverstoek, and the music by Savage R. A. Horne. Afterwards supper was served, and the remainder of the evening was spent pleasantly in dancing.
