Sumner passengers on the trams and motorists along the Sumner Road greatly admired the view of the snowy ranges across the estuary at “ The flitting ” on Saturday morning. Seldom have they been coated so far down. A strong morning sun and clear sky showed them up in clear detail, and from Mount Grey to below Mount Torlesse they all glistened white to the foot. On Sunday the whole panorama of ranges from the great peaks of Kaikoura to Hunters Hills behind Timarw was clearly outlined, and from the slopes of Mount Pleasant afforded the lucky observer a scene beyond ocean and plain that would be hard to suipass anywhere.
