FANCY DRESS BALL.

A pleasant evening was spent at the Technical College Hall on Saturday, when a fancy dress ball was held Many of the dancers appeared in fancy dress, the costumes being varied and effective. The attractive decorations were in green and gold, and the excellent music was provided by the Columbia dance band. Amongst those present were:—Mrs Harvey (Mazurka Girl), Mrs Austin (British Goods), Misses K. Powell (Early Victorian), K. Clayton (Query), Gladys Stuart (Gold Leaf Tea), L. Copplestone (Gentleman), R. Hay (Russian), E. Smith (Hawaiian), W. Appleyard (Danger Signals), B. Fitt (Dutch Girl), Eileen Smith (Gipsy), W. Spiers (Mistakes), JD. Beamish (Apache), V. Smith (Black and Gold Pierrot), J. Smith (Circus Girl), V. Patten (Harlequin Pierette), V. Hancock (Prince Arthur), M. Orchard (Blue Diamond Taxi), Jean Tulley, Jean Osborne, D. Stuart, Adelaide O’Neil, M. Wall, R. M’Creedy, Ivy Hampton, R : Pyne, I. Tolerton, L. Samms, Hazel Welch, M. Christian, J. Christian, P. Davis, D. Pounsford, P. Lalon, S. Littlejohn, E. Wylie, P. Marshall, Olga Stewart, Winnie Baunton, Rub> Newby, Muriel Anstiss, Ruby Carpenter, L. Smith, Lily Hamer, D. Serine, D. Jarden, T. Jarden, S. Johnston, Irene White, E. Cummins, I. Pagei, L). Brooke, Mrs Marquet, Gladys Melrose, Birdie Nightingale and many gentlemen. Miss Powell was awarded first prize: and Miss Orchard second prize for the ;adies' costumes.- Mr Smith (Acrobat and Footballer) and Mr Rogers (Scarecrow) tied for first prize for the gentlemen’s costumes. Mrs Harvey,' Miss J. Christian and Mr A. Haworth judged the costumes, and Mr W. Johnston efficiently executed the duties of M.C.
