KNOCK-OUT FINAL. The final match of tlie Canterbury Hockey Association’s knock-out competition was played this afternoon between Sydenham and Selwyn. The weather was fine and the grounds in SELWYN v. SYDENHAM. A spelt of. even play followed the opening bully. Frequent breaches bv the Sydenham forwards lost valuable ground and Selwyn gained tlveir opponBel 1 was kicked tfut by n. Snooks.' R More started a clever movement for Selwyn, the ball travelling- to J. Squire in to D. Morris, who centred to S. Bell, whose shot, just missed. J. Anderson sent Bang-ridge away and a score seemed certain when B. Here intercepted cleverly. Sydenham gained a eouple of fruitless and Selwyn rushed S. Bel], but Snookes again” saved, but were G. Getson beaded a SelS. Bell, but Snooks aagain soved, but conceded a corner, which was cleared by Dash. A spell of play in Sydenham territory was followed by a fast run by Langridge, but Robb cleared and Selwyn again invaded Sydenham’s goal, where James hit over and the subsequent corner was cleared. flalf-time came with no score. Selwyn obtained possession shortly after the opening bully of the second spell and Sydenham conceded a corner from which S. Bell shot unsuccessfully. B. Morris obtained possession in the circle, and following in well opened the score for Selwyn. Selwyn 1. Sydenham 0. Sydenham broke away, but 8.. Hore returned play to Sydenham end. and .T. Squire saved with a quick shot which glanced off Monk’s pads. Selwyn 2. Kyd-. enham O. S. Bell and B. Morris started a clear run for Selwyn. the. latter passed to Richmond, who centred to Morris, and the latter, drew Moolcs and scored cleverly. Selwyn 3, Sydenham 0. Selwyn held play in Sydenham's,end without result and then Spiers put in a run whmiv.h gained a penalty cover for Sydenham. S. Bell cleared and play was again transferred to Sydenham’s end.
