Jenlcins) 0 Captain Sarto went forward at the start, but, after jumping the sod wall, Tycho joined him, with Mataipuke six lengths away. Captain Sarto fell at the brush at the top of the straight. Faloose and Message Boy following suit. Passing the stand, Tycho was just clear of Royal Fashion and Hyperion, with Mataipuke close up. Tycho and Hyperion raced along the back together, but approaching the straight Royal Fashion ran to_ the front. From this on. Royal Fashion was never’ troubled and won easily by a length and a half from Mataipuke. with Hyperion six lengths away and Tycho close up fourth. Time —Drain 38 2-ssec. Craigtnore took charge at the start, and, passing the stand, was eight lengths in front' o% Nucleus and Red Fuchsia, and Kilburn ten lengths away. Gaze being last. There was no change till the*-/reached the mile post, where Gazer headed Kilburn. At this stage, Craigmore was a dozen lengths in front of Nucleus, with Red Fuchsia three lengths away. Craigmore* hit the second last hurdle, but still, had a good lead. He was well clear at the last hurdle and won easily by three lengths. Red Fuchsia took second place in the straight, but Kilburn beat him in the run home by a neck for second place. Nucleus was fourth and Gaze last. Time —3min 57 4-ssec.

A little further on, Diana’s Lad and Ned Kelly commenced to drop back. Carinthia had a good lead at the entrance to the straight, and won very easily by eight lengths from Red Heather, who headed Erin-go-Bragh at the last hurdle. Nine of Spades finished on strongly, and got up in time to beat Erin-go-Bragh by a neck for third place. Time—3min Tsec. Radiate led Ranui over the post and rails, but Ranui went on in front at the Kennels double. Ranui was just clear of Radiate at the sod wall, where Rang! Sarto. Tuki and Pouri were’ following at short intervals.
